I have been creating decorating and entertaining much of my adult life.
Even as a child I was always interested in "Making Stuff".
As a new Bride I discovered the thrill of hunting and pecking through thrift stores and yard sales. I loved finding cast off treasures for mere pennies and delighted in bringing them home and recreating them into something pretty. It became my passion. Also an avid crafter I've dabbled in everything from decorative painting, sewing, and even furniture making. I decorated my whole house on found items that were recreated or made from scratch.
After a few years I began daydreaming about having my own shop. I craved a career where I could utilize my creative mind. In the spring of 2006 I stumbled upon a small storefront for rent tucked away in the downtown area of Swansboro. I mentioned it to my husband and he said check it out! So I did. The rent was reasonable so with the help of my husband I opened my shop in April. I was thrilled and wanted to pinch myself.
It has been tough road sometimes and a great learning experience. In February I closed my store and set out to look for a larger place with more exposure. I opened in a cute little cottage in Cedar Point in May of 2007. After 2 and a half years of "living my dream" and learning alot I decided to make some major changes. I closed my store in August of 2009 and moved into Swansboro Antique Centre. I am now able to work from home, spend more time with my family and attend local craft and antique shows. It has been a great compromise and I am tickled to have the freedom this decision has given me. Sometimes when there are bumps in the road you just have to change direction.
Always pursue your passions and strive to achieve your dreams!
